A point cloud that has been gathered and put into a GIS system to create a digital elevation model. Planning for a wide range of project kinds, including agriculture, land management, civil engineering, and building, is aided by the model.
A point cloud created by a LiDAR drone on a single pass. Before a ground layer is added, this image displays the entire world above ground.
LiDAR terminology
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a remote sensing technique that can accurately and precisely locate things in real space. In the UAV LiDAR method, a drone flies over a predetermined area while beaming 100k–3 million laser pulses per second onto a surface. After calculating the signal retransmission time, LiDAR data is electronically combined with GPS data and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) data to produce a digital representation of the scanned area in a point file format. This digital representation is used by professional surveyors to produce a variety of deliverables for their clients.
Benefits of LiDAR
MEASUREMENT OF DENSITY
In order to collect data that is challenging to gather using conventional techniques, LiDAR-equipped drones can access ground surfaces through minute gaps in the canopy of foliage and plant life. This is especially helpful for sectors like agriculture, forestry, surveying, and land management and development.
With LIDAR technology, qualified specialists can safeguard and repair shorelines that are at risk. Flights over a region on a regular basis allow for the monitoring and management of ongoing patterns of erosion, coastal movements, and other changes.
COASTAL & ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION
MODELING FOR ELEVATION
Licensed experts can use LiDAR data to build highly accurate 3D models that give robust information that isn't possible through conventional channels, including locating the low points on fields for irrigation planning. useful for a wide range of professions, such as land management, agriculture, civil engineering, and building.
PLANNING FOR RIGHT-OF-WAY ENROACHMENT (ROW) & UTILITY CORRIDORS
LiDAR assists qualified experts with terrain mapping when planning utilities or construction projects since it can obtain incredibly precise elevation data. By revealing tree canopies that are hanging over transmission lines, it can aid people who are continuously monitoring ROW encroachment. This will enable asset managers to immediately identify and take care of urgent servicing needs.
DETECTION IN DETAIL
LiDAR-equipped drones can collect precise locational data since they can fly at low altitudes and penetrate dense vegetation to reach ground surfaces. This is useful for energy and utilities, forestry, land development, and archaeology in particular.
VOLUMETRICS
LiDAR drone technology can be used to gather information that will allow qualified specialists to calculate the volume of an area. helpful in industries requiring precise volume measurement, such as mining, aggregate stockpile measuring, dredging, landfills, and industrial sites.
Several LiDAR systems from Sky.ro are scalable to fit different demands.
